Recent press releases highlight the need and relevance of our work.

In April 2019, the Casper Star Tribune posted an article describing negative factors, such as depression and limited health insurance, that affect our moms and babies here in Wyoming. It states, "Wyoming women who gave birth in 2017 reported high rates of depression before, during and after pregnancy, according to a new state report that also reveals the insurance and income-related issues facing mothers here." The piece, written by Seth Klamann can be found here.

While this article spotlighted the high percentage of women struggling with issues that could negatively affect them and their babies, it did not offer solutions.  Along with her cohorts at the Natrona County Prevention Council's Family & Parenting Subcommittee, our director Aimee Jolley created a response to this letter that focused on all the supports and resources available to pregnant women and new moms here in Casper.  The article gives direct links and contact information for places that provide information and intervention, as well as help accessing health insurance.  The goal of this response was to raise awareness of the work being done in our community to support women before, during, and after pregnancy and to ensure that those in need of this support know how to access it.

Check out the letter, published as a guest column in the Casper Star Tribune, here.
